OVG taps Arctos to help with sustainability efforts

Arctos Partners has joined forces with Oak View Group to enhance OVG’s GOAL sustainability program by providing proprietary data, insights and best practices on impact and governance. Additionally, Arctos’ portfolio teams that weren’t already involved with GOAL, including the Dodgers and the Sacramento River Cats, will become members. The deal doesn’t include any investment from Arctos into the GOAL program, a sustainability platform created in 2022.

“From a sustainability perspective, how could we be most impactful? Looking at the industry from our perspective, one of the most compelling ways is to steer best practices,” said Arctos partner Jordan Solomon, who was formerly EVP/MSG Sports at the Madison Square Garden Company. "We can encourage this across teams and leagues, across venue types and sizes. Everything we do is data-driven, insights-driven, so this very much aligns with how we run our business.”

Arctos has been an active pursuant of minority ownership stakes in sports entities across the globe, ranging from portions of Fenway Sports Group and the Penguins (both founding partners of GOAL), SeatGeek, the Dodgers and Cubs, to Portland’s Timbers and Thorns soccer clubs, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, and the Sacramento River Cats. Arctos' portfolio teams the Wild, Devils and Cubs have joined GOAL in the last year.

GOAL provides a variety of resources for its members, including custom sustainability roadmaps for venues and franchises, data and analytics tools to measure performance across several impact categories, and a collaborative dashboard allowing members to share intelligence and dedicated sustainability task forces. OVG Head of Sustainability Kristen Fulmer expects Arctos to strengthen GOAL’s data collection and insights capabilities.

“We’re continuing to build the community and network with strategic partners like Arctos,” she said. "They know all the best practices in the industry through who they work with, so having those perspectives only makes us better.”
