NEW YORK -- Tuesday was a day of celebration at the Marriott Marquis in N.Y., as professionals across the sports industry convened for SBJ’s 2023 Game Changers event. Following a wall-to-wall slate of high-powered panels and networking sessions, this year’s honorees -- 50, for the 13th class -- were honored in a ceremony for attendees, friends, and family in the Astor Ballroom. Decorated sports journalist and founder/CEO of Walk Swiftly Productions Bonnie Bernstein emceed the festivities, delivering a rousing introductory speech before calling each Game Changer to the stage to receive her award.
“It’s the power of we in this room that will be the rising tide for all ships,” Bernstein said. Honorees selected their own walkup music and took the stage as Bernstein ran down lists of career highlights and fun facts. Standing ovations abounded. After each name had been called, a buzzing reception ensued, filled with hugs, photos and laughs. “I’m so proud of you, everyone in this room is so proud of you, and you should be so damn proud of yourself,” Christine Wylie, Director of Sponsorships and Partnerships (Sports) for Verizon, said during her closing toast.
