Roll with it: Man City seeing benefits of recent on-pitch success

Manchester City's growing popularity is "not particularly new"Getty Images

Manchester City are “cashing in on their success” after winning the famed Treble in June, according to Simon Bajkawski of the MANCHESTER EVENING STANDARD. The addition of F Erling Haaland last summer “added to the increased appeal of City” as they became “more popular around the world.” Interest in the club “in the Far East this summer was markedly up on when they were last there four years ago.” Additionally, a “change in policy over the summer saw most of the tickets go on sale for every home game at once rather than a set period before each game, and every ticket on offer has been snapped up.” The club’s growing popularity is “not particularly new,” as the “decision to expand the North Stand has been in the pipeline for a while.” The current demand for tickets “would suggest there will be no trouble filling the ground when its capacity moves above 60,000” (MANCHESTER EVENING STANDARD, 9/13).

BREAKING NEW GROUND: The Man City Women's Super League club is the first team in the league “to secure a stadium naming rights deal after announcing a contract with baby gear brand Joie.” The 7,000-seat stadium is the “only purpose-built venue in the WSL.” No financial terms were announced (REUTERS, 9/14).
