MTSU's Student-Athlete Performance Center on-track for '25 opening

Middle Tennessee State’s $66M Student-Athlete Performance Center had construction started on it this summer and is “on target for completion in summer 2025,” according to Cecil Joyce of the Murfreesboro DAILY NEWS JOURNAL. The three-story SAPC will be adjacent to Murphy Center and connect to the north end zone of the stadium. The first floor of the SAPC will include the Kevin Byard (who made a “significant financial contribution”) Strength and Conditioning area and a “state-of-the-art training room,” both of which will be for all MTSU student-athletes. MTSU football's locker room and equipment room will be on the first floor, along with a barbershop and student-athlete lounge area. The second floor will include football coaches' offices and meeting rooms, as well as a team auditorium. The third floor will be “mostly a club lounge and dining area,” which will “overlook the stadium and be used for student-athletes during non-game days and as a club area on game days.” Joyce notes the club area will be called “Smyrna Ready Mix Club Lounge” after the Smyrna-based company, which donated $3M to the project. There will also be two outdoor club suites attached to the building on the third floor, one of which “will belong” to SRM. Joyce adds the construction for the project “won't have a major impact on fans attending home games this fall,” though there will be “limited access for fans to the north end zone, as the area near the construction has been fenced off for safety” (Murfreesboro DAILY NEWS JOURNAL, 8/29).
