Coke is nearly as ubiquitous as A-B across American sports and faces similar challenges: share slippage and the decline of full-calorie brands. In addition to changing consumer tastes, Coke marketers like Douglas and Perez must now fend off a global movement to tax their core product. Perez this year was given authority over the company’s global assets, retailing and licensing division, which includes its major sports properties.
