Spanish Football Fans Have Hard Time Watching Champions League Matches

After two Champions League matchdays, "technical problems persist, complaints are mounting and the anger is increasing" for fans who have paid to watch the games online, according to Vicente Azpitarte of LIBERTAD DIGITAL. Fans are "frustrated by the inability to watch games smoothly, and also by the ridiculous remedies" the platforms are offering, like the suggestion to "connect to the sites streaming the games early, so problems do not occur." Jokes and complaints "are flooding social networks but the reality is even more complex." More than 40 million people in Spain "do not have easy access" to Champions League broadcasts at the moment -- and "all of this during a year when Spain has five teams in the tournament" (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 10/1). TE INTERESA reported Mediapro-owned online platform TotalChannel assured that "95% of customers" were able to view matches on Wednesday without problems. After the problems on the last CL matchday, Mediapro exec Tatxo Benet explained that on Wednesday, there were fewer incidences. He said, "Of the incidents, only a minority is attributable to TotalChannel" (TE INTERESA, 10/1).
