ARD Sets New Season Ratings High With Bundesliga 'Sportschau'

German public broadcaster ARD "set a new season ratings high with its Bundesliga highlights show on Saturday," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The Bundesliga "Sportschau" attracted 6.87 million viewers starting at 6:30pm. The number translated into a market share of 26.8%. In the target demographic 14-49, the program obtained an 18.8% share. Additionally German pay-TV network Sky Deutschland attracted 1.68 million viewers for its live Bundesliga broadcasts on Saturday. In the target demographic, Sky had a 15.8% share.

WINTER SPORTS: On Sunday, ARD recorded high ratings for its broadcast of Nordic World Ski Championships on Sunday. The channel attracted 4.95 million viewers starting at 5pm. The number translated into a 20.6% market share. In the target demographic, the victory of Germany's mixed ski jumping team obtained an 11.2%. Prior to the ski jumping event, 4.19 million viewers tuned in to watch Germany's men's Nordic Combined team also win gold. The number translated into a market share of 21.1%. Pan-European sports network Eurosport recorded 310,000 viewers for its broadcast of the Nordic Combined cross-country skiing event. The following Nordic Combined ski jumping competition was watched by 420,000 viewers. The coverage obtained a 1.8% market share (DWDL, 2/23).

IN SPAIN: The final of the Spanish Basketball League's (ACB) Copa del Rey, which Real Madrid won by beating Barcelona 77-71 on Sunday, drew a total audience of 2.4 million viewers and a market share of 15.4% on La1 and TV3. It was the third-most watched Copa del Rey final of the 21st century. La1's broadcast had an audience of 2.03 million and and Catalan channel TV3 added 337,000 viewers (AS, 2/23).
