MLB Moves Up World Series Game 2 Start Due To Rain Forecast

MLB last night made the unusual step of preemptively moving up the start time for tonight’s World Series Game 2 in Cleveland by one hour to 7:08pm ET due to rain in the forecast. The shift was made midway during last night’s Game 1 after league officials found the chance of rain elevated from 20% during the day to 80% later tonight. This makes tonight the earliest start to a World Series game since '10, when Game 3 in Texas began at 6:57pm. There has not been a World Series game postponement since '11.

Meanwhile, ticket resale data compiled by SeatGeek found slight reductions in pricing for Game 2, Games 3 and 5 this weekend in Chicago, and a slight increase for Saturday's Game 4 at Wrigley Field compared to earlier this week. As is often the case as games draw nearer, supply-and-demand trends have brought down pricing for both sales and listings, by single-digit percentages in many instances. But the average resale pricing for the World Series this week remains at record levels, and for the Chicago games this weekend still ranges between $3,270-4,288 per ticket.
