USA TODAY's Jarrett Bell notes Cavaliers F LeBron James before last night's Game 2 of the NBA Finals "gave his teammates gold-plated, Beats By Dre headphones." Each set of headphones came "complete with a special inspirational message." The message read, "You've worked, you've dreamed, you're trained for this. Our time is now" (USA TODAY, 6/6).

BUZZ WORDS: In Baltimore, Sarah Meehan noted a "plea to bring back" National Bohemian beer to the Orioles' Camden Yards came in Friday's Baltimore Sun in the form of a "Boh-pen letter" to fans. The Orioles "stopped selling the beer at the stadium earlier this season." The letter, which ran as a full-page ad, alleges that the team "cancelled an order of Natty Boh 'with no explanation or communication.'" However, the ad "doesn't mention a cease and desist letter the Orioles sent to Pabst Brewing Co., which brews Natty Boh, for using Orioles logos and likenesses without the team's permission" (Baltimore SUN, 6/4).

MAKING AN EXAMPLE? In Portland, Ken Goe wrote of the contract dispute between Nike and runner Boris Berian, "It's hard for me to believe holding onto Berian, as good as he is, is worth this kind of fight for Nike." That is, unless the company "is attempting to make an example out of him to other athletes." But this situation "makes Nike look like a bully" (OREGONLIVE.com, 6/5).
