WHO WANTS TO BE A HEADLIGHT ON THIS NORTHBOUND TRAIN?

Canadian Pro Golf Tour Commissioner Jacques Burelle
said that he "will begin shopping" title sponsorship of the
tour around "corporate Canada," according to John Gordon of
the NATIONAL POST, who reported that a title sponsor for the
Tour "would be expected to ante up about" $3M a year. If
Burelle "fails to strike gold, he will look at hiring" an ad
agency "to go after U.S. companies with interests in" Canada
and Latin America, as the Panama Open in January has been
added to the Tour. Burelle: "We'll have between 18 and 20
full-field tournaments next year. ... Our Web site
[cantour.com] gets up to 1.5 million hits a month, we've got
a 20-week TV show on Sportsnet and The Golf Channel, we've
got sponsors like McDonald's, Ericsson, Bayer, Shell,
Heineken, and so on. So ... we are just about ready to get
at the last part of the equation" (NATIONAL POST, 9/19).
