          FOX SPORTS REPORT: DAILY VARIETY's Jill Goldsmith
     reports News Corp.'s profits "dipped in the latest quarter
     but still beat expectations."  Net income fell 16% to $165M
     on revenue down slightly to $3.16B for its fiscal first
     quarter ended September.  Cable network programming,
     comprised of Fox News Channel, Fox Sports Networks, the
     Dodgers and "other cable-related businesses," reported a
     jump in cash flow to $38M from $13M.  Fox Sports Net's cash
     flow "nearly doubled" (DAILY VARIETY, 10/29).
          NOTES: TX-based ClubCorp secured a $300M investment
     from NY equity firm, Cypress Group.  ClubCorp said that it
     will use the money "to grow its core businesses" (DALLAS
     MORNING NEWS, 10/29)....A.G. Edwards analyst Timothy Condor
     forecasts that Rawlings Sporting Goods "could be acquired by
     the end of the year."  Condor: "We believe there is going to
     be a buyout prior to year-end" (CBS MarketWatch, 10/28).
