WHAT IF THE SHOE DOESN'T FIT? SWISS MISS' FEET HURT

Martina Hingis has "complained bitterly" to Sergio
Tacchini, which pays her $3M a year in an apparel and shoe
contract, that her sneakers don't fit properly, according to
Mitchell Fink of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. Hingis, who claims
she gets blisters and cramps from her shoes, has three years
remaining on her Tacchini contract, which she signed when
she was nine. N.Y.-based podiatrist Dr. Thomas Novella
examined Hingis at last month's U.S. Open and said her
sneakers "fit so poorly" that she "may as well have been
playing in sandals." Hingis also claims that Tacchini's
clothes "sometimes ride up on her body during a match, often
exposing a part of her buttocks." Sources say that Hingis'
complaints to Tacchini "have fallen on deaf ears ... and the
company has done little or nothing to help her." Fink was
unable to reach Tacchini (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/12).
