NFL'S SPONSORSHIP RULE ENERGIZES FOX PRE-GAME CREW

On "Fox NFL Sunday," Terry Bradshaw interrupted host
James Brown's introduction of the "Fox Energizer Playbook"
segment by taking a Fox Sports sign, which was covering up
an Energizer logo on the floor of Fox studio's mock football
field, and placing it over an "NFL on Fox" sign on the
studio backdrop. Bradshaw: "You know, we've got some
problems in New York and for all our friends there on Park
Avenue and the NFL ... we here at Fox want to adhere to all
the rules ... you know how it is -- there are just certain
things you can't do." Energizer is not an NFL sponsor, but
a sponsor of "Fox NFL Sunday." League rules prohibit the
commingling of NFL marks and terminology with those of non-
NFL partners. Brown: "Of course, we love Energizer here at
Fox" ("Fox NFL Sunday," Fox, 10/11). Fox Sports Senior
VP/Media Relations Vince Wladika: "It was a lighthearted way
of letting everyone know we're following the terms of our
contract with the NFL." NFL VP/Communications Greg Aiello:
"We appreciate Fox's willingness to live by the same rules
as everyone else" (Richard Sandomir, N.Y. TIMES, 10/12).
