FOX SPORTS AMERICAS PROTESTS BEING DROPPED BY COX

Fox Sports Americas (FSA) "has gone on the offensive to
protest its looming elimination" from Cox Communications in
San Diego, according to Arthur Golden of the SAN DIEGO
UNION-TRIBUNE. In "its campaign to save its cable spot,"
the network has sent a truck "pulling" its billboard
"through the streets of San Diego" and has purchased
newspaper ads and radio/TV spots, and even hung messages
over doorknobs." Cox Communications, San Diego VP Ops Duffy
Leone said that viewership of FSA "was so negligible that it
failed to register in the Nielsen ratings" and that "only"
100 people called to complain about it being pulled which
"demonstrates that there is no uproar in the community to
continue the service." FSA had been carried by Cox since
December '93 and will be replaced by the Discovery Channel's
Animal Planet (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 9/11).
