          Final weekend ratings from the networks were not
     available at press time (THE DAILY)....USA TODAY's Michael
     Hiestand notes that the SI for Kids TV show, which debuts
     Saturday on CBS, "won't air ads using any athletes who host
     the show" (USA TODAY, 9/12)....Comcast SportsNet has hired
     Ron Burke to anchor its morning local sports news report. 
     Burke comes from NY's WBIS where he anchored pre-game and
     post-game updates for local NBA and NHL coverage (Comcast).
     ...BET Holdings Owner Robert Johnson and partner Liberty
     Media are offering to buy back the 6 million shares of BET
     which they don't own for $48/share, 17% over Wednesday's
     trading price (WASHINGTON POST, 9/12)....Robert De Niro
     recently attended a fight in south FL to prepare for his
     upcoming role as boxing cornerman Angelo Dundee in, "Out On
     My Feet," a film on ex-fighter Vinnie Curto (USA TODAY,
     9/12)....ESPN Enterprises and Tommy Boy released "Jock Jams
     3," the follow-up to "Jock Jams" 1 and 2.  It is the seventh
     collaboration between ESPN Enterprises and Tommy Boy (ESPN).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
