HERE'S THE PITCH...BASEBALL BROADCAST NEWS & NOTES

     Brewers officials say they "are close" to a deal for a cable
TV package.  In Milwaukee, Bob Wolfley reports it's believed the
club has worked out a package with Group W Satellite
Communications to carry about 40 games on the Wisconsin Sports
Network.  The Brewers are the only AL club without a cable
package (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 3/29). ....Phil Mushnick
reports that former Red Sox/White Sox infielder Steve (Psycho)
Lyons is "the prime candidate" to join Dave Winfield as a Fox
studio analyst (N.Y POST, 3/29)....ESPN's Jon Miller says the
length of games isn't a problem for most baseball fans.  Miller:
"You can have one three hours and 40 minutes and you're sorry it
ended it was so good.  You can have a game two hours and 10
minutes, and you slept through half of it.  That's the nature of
the game" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 3/28).
