Latest On World Series Weather: Rain Could Still Affect Game 2

Rain could affect tonight's World Series Game 2 despite MLB moving the start time up to 7:08pm ET. Officials are "hopeful there will be a window of dry weather wide enough" to play the game to its completion. Local forecasts indicate afternoon rains will "stop shortly before game time" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 10/26). It has started raining in Cleveland, "heavier than drizzle but not quite a downpour" (CBSSPORTS.com, 10/26). The National Weather Service predicts a 19% chance of precipitation at game time rising to 32% "in the next three hours" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 10/26).

Weather.com has a weather outlook through all seven possible World Series games. Cleveland.com offers a look back at the only World Series game to be suspended by rain – Rays-Phillies Game 5 in '08 – plus a rundown of how the decision to suspend play would be made.

Boston PGA Tour Event Changes Name Again With Dell-EMC Merger

The Boston-area FedExCup Playoffs event formerly known as the Deutsche Bank Championship "will now be called the Dell Technologies Championship" beginning in '17. This is the "second change in as many months for the second leg of the postseason." Tour officials last month announced that EMC Corporation "would be the new title sponsor of the event, but EMC and Dell agreed on a merger that was recently approved, necessitating the name change." The newly-formed company "also sponsors the 64-man WGC match play event held each spring, which will now be called the Dell Technologies Match Play" (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 10/26).

Pacers Announce Deal With Southwest, Now Team's Official Airline

The Pacers and Southwest Airlines today announced a new sponsorship deal that includes the designation of official airline. In addition, Southwest will have a branding presence at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, including in-arena ads and digital/broadcast features. The airline also partners with FS Indiana during Pacers game broadcasts. Other activation will include player appearances and Southwest giving out 50,000 Rapid Rewards Points to celebrate the Pacers' 50th season (Pacers).

Sellout Expected For Manchester Derby; Extra Police On Duty

The latest iteration of the Manchester Derby is underway, and the EFL Cup match featuring EPL clubs Manchester City and Manchester United was expected to be a sellout at 75,000-seat Old Trafford. Man City is "bringing more than 7,500 fans – two and a half times their allocation" for an EPL game. Extra police "will be on patrol in the city centre" after there was an "outbreak of violence" following last month's Derby (MANCHESTEREVENINGNEWS.co.uk, 10/26).

Man City MF Ilkay Gundogan said prior to the match, "The fact it is United and everything that goes with a Manchester derby for the fans and the city gives it that extra edge. It has a huge meaning for Manchester, England and maybe the whole world will be watching" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 10/26).

Prospective Pro Football League Nearing Goal Of $5M In Capital

USFL officials today said that the league has made a "significant push toward raising" $5M in capital to form a new eight-team league. USFL Senior VP/Corporate Communications Kate Jeffery said, "We continue to make strides connecting with prospective investors and are exploring various alternatives to secure funding." Jeffery "declined to disclose how much money has been raised toward the capital campaign, saying only that the San Diego-based organization has raised a 'significant sum' through its founders." She said, "We have had fruitful discussions with companies ... which will greatly enhance the quality of our football product" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/26).
