Facility Notes: Area Around Liverpool's Anfield To Get New Boulevard

The final stage in the regeneration of the area around Anfield "will see the construction of a new boulevard leading to the stadium." Liverpool Council officials, who have been implementing a £260M ($347.5M) scheme to "reinvigorate" the neighborhood, also want to see a "high street" created on Walton Breck Road, near the ground. The plan, which received the backing of the council's cabinet last week, "will see 85 new homes built." The boulevard will link Stanley Park and 96 Avenue with Robson Street (ESPN.com, 11/27).

Earthquake strengthening at Yarrow Stadium "means games at the ground next season will likely be run without access to the main stand, changing rooms and corporate facilities." The stand, which also houses Taranaki Rugby's HQ and a catering company is being vacated "while further work to assess what work is needed is carried out" (STUFF, 11/28).
