ÓSCAR GARCÍA quit as coach of Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne "after five months at the helm." The Spanish coach led Saint-Étienne to a "strong start to the season" but it has won just one of its last seven games. García's assistant, ALAIN RAVERA, and the club's former captain, JULIEN SABLÉ, who is currently head of the youth academy, will coach the side while the club looks for a replacement (AFP, 11/15). ... GIAN PIERO VENTURA was sacked as coach of Italy after failing to guide the team to the World Cup, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced. The former Torino coach had his contract terminated following a meeting of FIGC execs on Wednesday, and Italy will now begin its "search for a successor."
