Franchise Notes: Force India F1 Team Will Implement New Rules, Szafnauer Says

Force India Formula 1 team said that it has been "left with no choice but to implement team orders" after another collision between Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon during the Belgian Grand Prix. Team COO Otmar Szafnauer said that the team will "take action." He added that Force India will "work out how best to implement the new rules before telling the drivers ahead of the next race in Monza this weekend" (RACER, 8/28).

A-League side Newcastle Jets CEO Lawrie McKinna said that his club "could fill an A-League void in the capital" after playing a friendly against National Premier Leagues Capital Football side Canberra Olympic at Deakin Stadium on Wednesday. The Central Coast Mariners played two A-League games at Canberra Stadium last season, "but after taking a significant financial hit the club opted not to return next season." However, McKinna said that "Canberra has the appetite and population to make the move financially viable" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 8/29).
