Cricket Australia Recovers 2,890 Scalped Tickets For December Ashes Test

Cricket Australia said that it recovered "thousands of scalped tickets for the third Ashes test against England in Perth," according to Ian Ransom of REUTERS. The 2,890 tickets were "identified as linked to scalped tickets being sold at a premium" on online marketplace eBay, CA said in a statement. The tickets for the Dec. 14-18 test at the WACA "will go back on sale on Aug. 28." The five-test Ashes series is "one of Australia's most well-attended sporting events" (REUTERS, 8/23). The AAP reported CA Exec GM, Events & Leagues Anthony Everard said, "This is a very clear message to those who try to take advantage of the system and scalp tickets at inflated prices. ... Our message to all fans is to not support this practice" (AAP, 8/23).
