World Rallycross Championship organizers said that electric cars are set to become part of WRC events, which "could happen" as soon as '20. Series promoter IMG confirmed that it is "working with manufacturers and the FIA on plans to introduce electric technology into the mixed-surface discipline" (MOTORSPORT, 8/2).

Hong Kong ePrix organizers on Wednesday said that they were "prepared to open up the eVillage fan zone for free" -- last year's tickets cost HK$300 -- through registration for a ticket ballot. Last year, "more than 20,000 fans visited the inaugural Hong Kong ePrix." This year, with the expanded eVillage and three grandstands, total capacity for the 2017 Hong Kong ePrix is "expected to exceed 41,000 across the event weekend" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 8/2).

Two days before Thursday night's kickoff, 56,000 tickets had already been sold, but "fans were not lining up just for Europa League tickets" at the club's Casa Milan HQ. Within the first six hours of general sale, 6,000 season tickets for the coming campaign were also sold, "taking the current total number of sales -- including those who renewed their season tickets from last season -- to around 21,000" (ESPN.com, 8/1).

Glasgow started a 12-month countdown until the city co-hosts the 2018 European Championships, "a new multi-sport event." A female mascot was revealed as the event’s official mascot, with organizers "hoping to encourage more young women into sport."
