Event Notes: FIFA Shifts U17 World Cup Games From Mumbai To Delhi

FIFA will shift India's U17 World Cup matches from Mumbai to Delhi as the football body has taken the host government's request "very seriously." The All India Football Federation "initially wanted Mumbai to host India's home matches but later asked FIFA to shift them to Delhi due to pressure from the sports ministry as it felt it was appropriate that the capital hosts the home team's games" (PTI, 6/28).

Local fans will pay HK$7,800 ($1,000) "for the best seats in the house when a group of NBA players compete in Hong Kong for the first time," but organizers have yet to confirm the line-up for the July 30 exhibition at the Coliseum. Around 10 players are "expected to feature" in an NBA team which will play a team from the Chinese Basketball Association in support of Yao Ming’s foundation (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 6/28).

About 100 rugby fans arrived at Wellington's Westpac Stadium for Tuesday's British & Irish Lions clash with Super Rugby side Hurricanes, only to discover their seats were double-booked. Ticketek claimed a "printing error" was responsible for the glitch. The company "assured fans, and New Zealand Rugby, that the error will not be repeated during Saturday's second All Blacks test against the Lions at the same venue" (STUFF, 6/28).
