Macron “never hid that Paris winning the 2024 Olympics was a primary objective of his sports program.” On the night Macron officially won the presidency, Paris 2024 co-Chair Tony Estanguet applauded Macron’s win in a tweet saying he was “anxious to speak about Paris 2024,” describing it as a “common ambition for France.” Speaking before the first round of elections, Macron’s spokesperson Christophe Castaner said, “We cannot measure the ripple effect of these Games. It would be an immediate benefit and a breath of fresh air” (LE PARISIEN, 5/8).
