League Notes: India Announces Cricket Squad For Champions Trophy

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli "will lead India" in the defense of its Champions Trophy in England and Wales from June 1-18. The squad was announced the day after the Board of Control for Cricket in India "temporarily set aside its differences over revenue sharing" with the Int'l Cricket Council. The BCCI missed a deadline to name a squad but said on Sunday that it "unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate" (BBC, 5/8).

BCCI senior official Rajeev Shukla "made it clear that the Indian team will not be touring Pakistan due to security concerns that have been raised by all major cricketing nations." Pakistan recently sent a legal notice to the BCCI claiming $6.9M in damages for not honoring the Memorandum of Understanding "that was signed between the two boards." Shukla said, "They have sent a notice and we will give appropriate response. We have had a consistent policy that we will play on each other's soil" (DAWN, 5/8).
