Cricketer Eoin Morgan In Sponsorship Deal With Rum Brand Captain Morgan

England ODI cricket captain Eoin Morgan revealed his latest sponsor, according to Matthew Smith of the London DAILY MAIL. Jamaican rum brand Captain Morgan signed the cricketer as its "latest brand ambassador." As part of the sponsorship, Morgan's bat will feature the Captain Morgan logo. Captain Morgan also created a "limited edition bottle label featuring Eoin, holding his branded bat, wearing flamboyant buccaneer inspired cricket whites." It is the second time the company has teamed up with a "sporting namesake," having also partnered with EPL side Leicester City's Wes Morgan in November. Eoin Morgan revealed his new sponsor via Twitter on Monday (DAILY MAIL, 5/8).

In London, Patrick Lion reported former footballer Rio Ferdinand "is back as captain." The former England skipper teamed up with Captain Morgan in a new ad campaign that sees Ferdinand raising a "Captain" alongside "another Captain Morgan." It has been dubbed possibly the "biggest crew of Captain characters assembled in a bar." The ad also features Argentinian polo Captain Nacho Figueras among a "throng of airline pilots and Navy captains greeting Captain Morgan" (DAILY MIRROR, 5/8).
