Argentine first division sides Boca Juniors and River Plate signed partnerships with Argentine beer brand Quilmes. The brewery becomes the official beer of both clubs, and will serve its "flagship product -- which is by far the most popular beer in the country" -- at Boca's La Bombonera and River's Estadio Monumental. Marca de Gol reported the initial deals "are both for two years" and are worth a total of $760,000 for each club (SOCCEREX, 4/19).
Formula 1 appointed CAA Sports, a division of U.S.-based Creative Artists Agency, to represent its global sponsorship rights. F1 said in a statement, "CAA Sports will be responsible for taking the Formula One brand into new markets and expanding the sponsorship portfolio to include new and innovative commercial partners." Formula 1 Managing Dir, Commercial Operations Sean Bratches said that the appointment was part of a strategic growth plan "to support existing partners and broaden the number of sponsors coming into the sport" (REUTERS, 4/18).
Liga Iberdrola side Valencia will display a new logo on its shirt after reaching an agreement with Mr Jeff laundry and launderette delivery, which will be the club's main sponsor until the end of the season. The logo will be displayed starting with Sunday's match against Levante (Valencia).
Pro12 side Munster announced a three-year strategic partnership with nutrition company MusclePharm, which will serve as the club's official sports nutrition partner. The team will be exclusively supplied with MusclePharm's sports nutrition and post-workout recovery supplements (Munster).
Ligue 1 side Lorient named Kappa its kit provider for the next five seasons, starting in June. The Italian brand will be the club’s official equipment provider and a major partner through ’22. Kappa will equip the team with all sport and lifestyle clothing (Lorient).
Singapore Rugby signed a strategic partnership with the French Football Federation (FFR) to support France’s bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The deal sees France “attempt to attract Asian rugby fans, in particularly in Singapore.” Singapore Rugby will benefit from French rugby expertise “with the goal of developing the game” in the country (SPORT STRATEGIES, 4/18).
