Chivas TV Boss Amaury Vergara Calls Platform Club's 'Best Decision' In 10 Years

Amaury Vergara, the director of Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara's Chivas TV, evaluated the project, which the club launched last June, according to Diego Mancera of EL PAÍS. Vergara said, "Chivas TV was the best decision that Chivas made in the last 10 years. The project brought a revolution in terms of marketing and how we reach the fanbase. ... We have taken giant steps and learned a lot. We have been pioneers with this concept, in a model that had never been considered." Vergara did not reveal the number of Chivas TV subscribers, saying he preferred to "keep our company secret." He said, "I can only say that since we started it has been increasing." Regarding claims that he and his father, club Owner Jorge Vergara, are censoring Chivas football, the younger Vergara said, "I have to remind them how Chivas was in the old TV contracts. For example, for those in the state of Jalsico, we could not see the games, it was all pay-per-view and we had to at least have a pay-TV system. Every purchase fans make on Chivas TV is money that serves the team" (EL PAÍS, 4/18).
