Storey, 39, is Great Britain's "most successful female Paralympian," with 25 medals for cycling and swimming, while Barney, 39, won three Golds as a pilot (BBC, 3/18). ... A "top sports doctor will be summoned to parliament to answer questions about why he secretly gave an infusion of a performance-enhancing substance" to MO FARAH before he ran the London marathon. ROBIN CHAKRAVERTY admitted giving Farah an infusion of the chemical L-carnitine, which Farah’s American coach "heralded as a wonder drug" with "incredible" effects after testing it on his athletes. UK Athletics claimed the infusion "did not breach anti-doping rules but it has been reported that proper records were not kept of the medical procedure" (LONDON TIMES, 3/19). ... UEFA exec committee member MARIOS LEFKARITIS of Cyprus is "to exit" int'l football politics. The European governing body said that the 70-year-old Lefkaritis has "withdrawn as a candidate in an April 5 election to retain his seat on the committee." The former rider, who also won the overall classification at the Vuelta a España in '69, "passed away after suffering a heart attack at his home in Ain, France, according to the French media" (CYCLING NEWS, 3/19). ... JOHN SAGER, a 32-year-old lawyer from California, "announced that he will run in La Liga side Eibar's presidential election." Sager is the founder of U.S. fan club Peña EibarUSA (MARCA, 3/19).
