Kurt Gidley To Wear Playercam During Super League Rugby Match

Rugby League fans will get closer to the action on Thursday when Leigh hosts Warrington in their Super League clash at the Leigh Sports Village. Warrington full-back Kurt Gidley will be fitted with a modified camera that he will wear throughout the game. The kit is subject to final health and safety checks by both clubs (Sky Sports). In London, Jonny Singer reported Gidley is "excited about giving fans an insight into what life is like out in the middle of the field." He said, "As a player, as a club and as a game we're constantly trying to grow the sport, and expose it to people who maybe aren't following rugby league. Certainly it will give fans an insight into how things look on the field, in terms of impact and vision." The camera "sits in a vest inside Gidley's jersey," but the Australian said that it will not "have any impact on how he plays." He said, "I had a training session in it before the season started. It's ok, fine for me to wear" (DAILY MAIL, 3/15).
