Barcelona's "remarkable turnaround" against Paris St. Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday "provoked a micro-earthquake in the Catalan city," according to Samuel Marsden of ESPN.com. The game-winning goal "led to pandemonium at Camp Nou," with coaching staff and supporters streaming onto the pitch and Manager Luis Enrique "injuring himself in the melee." All that noise -- "although perhaps above all the roars and celebrations from the 96,920 people at Camp Nou -- led to a recording on the Richter scale" at the Jaume Almera Institute of Earth Sciences, which is less than a mile from the stadium. Barcelona's second and third goals had "already nudged" the center's recordings, but it was the match-winning goal from Sergi Roberto which led to a recording of 1.0 on the Richter scale, "officially making it a micro-earthquake" (ESPN.com, 3/10). The PA reported an online petition calling for Barcelona's win to be replayed "has gained over 100,000 signatures." Real Madrid supporter Luis Melendo Olmedo began the petition on Friday, "citing a string of what he felt were mistakes by referee Deniz Aytekin," and by Sunday afternoon the number of backers for his campaign had reached six figures. The petition "lists a succession of incidents that its founder considers Aytekin to have got wrong," beginning with Barcelona's opening goal from Luis Suárez, which it says "should have been disallowed for offside" (PA, 3/10).
