Franchise Notes: Southampton Scouting Dir Wilson Rejects Rangers Offer

Premier League side Southampton Dir of Scouting & Recruitment Ross Wilson "rejected the chance to join" Scottish Premiership side Rangers as director of football. Wilson, 34, formally told the Scottish club on Tuesday that he "would not be taking up an offer that would have given him carte blanche to rebuild Rangers" (London TELEGRAPH, 3/8).

Premier League side Sunderland is "trying to entice the next generation of supporters by offering season tickets for just" £25 ($30.42). The "struggling" Black Cats, currently bottom of the Premier League, said that they will honor the prices "whether the club stays in the top flight or is relegated." Young people who "wish to sit in the family area" at the Stadium of Light, with a paying adult, can do so for £25 per season. U16s who want to "go on their own" will be charged £50 ($60.83). Sunderland announced that it is "now cheaper to watch the club than it was a decade ago" (London DAILY MAIL, 3/8).

League Championship side Cardiff City revealed its season ticket prices for the '17-18 campaign. Adult prices start at £249 ($302.96), £50 cheaper than this season's prices, while seniors can get their season tickets for "as little as" £229 ($278.62), or £149 ($181.29) "if sitting in the family stand." Juniors can attend every home match throughout the campaign for "as little as" £49 ($59.62), the equivalent of just £2 ($2.43) per game, which is the same as the '16-17 price (WALES ONLINE, 3/8).

Bayern Munich "could face a fine" after its supporters delayed Tuesday's Champions League tie at Arsenal "by throwing rolls of paper onto the pitch in protest over ticket prices." The game was stopped "shortly after" kickoff as stewards cleared the playing surface at Emirates Stadium (BBC, 3/8).
