Twitter will start streaming esports. The company announced a partnership with ESL and Dreamhack -- "two of the biggest organizations in the pro-gaming world" -- to broadcast tournaments and other esports events live on Twitter. Broadcasts will start Saturday, with Twitter streaming the ESL Intel Extreme Masters World Championship in Katowice, Poland, "for free on its platform." Twitter said that it "already has more than 15 events locked in for livestreaming this year" (THE VERGE, 3/2).
TNA signed a deal with Freeview channel Spike to "broadcast IMPACT Wrestling episodes and pay-per-views in the U.K." The company's former home, Challenge TV, which "used to air IMPACT on Sunday nights, dropped TNA from its schedule in January." Starting April 21, IMPACT will be broadcast in the U.K. on Friday nights (London DAILY MIRROR, 3/2).
Eurosport will begin broadcasting Wimbledon in eight additional countries, meaning viewers in at least 33 territories will be able to watch every Grand Slam in '17. Eurosport will broadcast Wimbledon in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan for the next three years (Eurosport).
