Deal To Bring Kassam Stadium Into Community Ownership Is Close, Businessman Says

Oxfordshire businessman Stewart Donald believes "a deal is close" to bring League One side Oxford United's Kassam Stadium home into "community ownership," according to the BBC. National League club Eastleigh Chair Donald "joined the committee of supporters trust OxVox," which wants to buy the ground from ex-Oxford Owner Firoz Kassam. Donald said, "The deal isn't a million miles away. There's a real opportunity and desire, and I'm certain it's the best opportunity we will get." OxVox, Kassam and Oxford City Council have been in negotiations over the 12,500-capacity stadium since October (BBC, 2/1).
