ESPN Reportedly Lowers Offer For TV Rights To Argentine First Division

ESPN execs spoke with Argentine first division officials and lowered their offer for TV rights to between 2.3B Argentine pesos and 2.5B Argentine pesos ($144.9M-$157.5M) per year, according to Alejandro Casar González of LA NACION. This offer is similar to what Fox and Turner offered. First division clubs "are continuing to push for games to air on basic cable and for viewers not to have to pay extra to enjoy them." One top first division exec said, "It is likely that ESPN will make a counter-offer at the last minute." While ESPN remains in talks, Fox and Turner are waiting. The offer from Fox and Turner is worth 2.2B Argentine pesos ($138.6M) (LA NACION, 1/13).
