Argentine First Division Football Clubs To Decide On New Offer From Fox, Turner

Argentine first division football clubs on Thursday listened to broadcasters Fox and Turner say that they want to spend a total of 2.2B Argentine pesos ($140M) for the TV rights for '17, according to González & Czyz of LA NACION. Fox and Turner execs added that they want "to pay this amount, plus a variable, based on the ratings for the games." The "middle class" of the first division does not "want anything to do with variable revenue or ratings, as they know that the kings of these items are the top five teams." The difference between the offer from the broadcasters and the first division teams' demand is 1.3B Argentine pesos ($80M), as the clubs "want a guaranteed minimum" of 3.5B Argentine pesos ($220M) for next year. The clubs "now have to decide their position regarding the number that Fox and Turner are proposing" (LA NACION, 12/8).
