AFL Side Gold Coast Suns Looking For New Sponsor After Fiat Does Not Renew

Australian Football League side Gold Coast Suns said that the club is "well advanced in finding a new major sponsor" after Fiat decided not to renew its expiring contract with the club, according to Daniel Cherny of THE AGE. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Australia "joined forces with the Suns as a co-major partner three years ago," with the Fiat name branded on the front of the team's jumper in away games, and the back of the jumper in home games, alternating with fellow co-major sponsor HostPlus. The three-year deal between FCA Australia and Gold Coast runs out next week, "with the parties confirming the end of the partnership in a joint statement." The statement said, "Throughout 2016, GCFC extended their other co-major partner, HostPlus, for a further three years, as well as stadium naming rights partner Metricon Homes for a further five years." Gold Coast said that it was on its way to "procuring a replacement sponsor," noting that corporate partnerships were a "strength" of its business (THE AGE, 10/29).
