Eurosport Scores Best Week On Record With US Open Tennis Coverage

Pan-European sports network Eurosport said that its "exclusive coverage of the US Open tennis championship helped it beat Sky Sports 2015 coverage on live average audience, total reach and men's final average," according to Julian Clover of BROADBAND TV NEWS. The Discovery-owned broadcaster "previously shared coverage of the US Open with Sky Sports on a non-exclusive basis." It "drew its best week on record" with an adult share of 0.95% (Eurosport 1 & Eurosport 2) in week 35. The quarterfinal between Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori had a "1 minute peak audience of 641,000." The men's final between Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka averaged 141,000 (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/16).

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: QUOTENMETER's Robert Meyer reported German public broadcaster ARD "drew less than 2 million viewers for women's football." The Euro qualifier between Germany and Russia attracted 1.73 million viewers. In the target demographic 14-49, Germany's 4-0 win was watched by only 130,000 viewers. The game, which started at 5:45pm on Friday, obtained a market share of 9.6%. In the target demo, the viewership stood at 4.4%.

RIO PARALYMPICS: ARD's Rio Paralympics drew 510,000 starting at 11:30pm on Friday night. The coverage drew a market share of 6.3%, along with 2.8% in the target demo (QUOTENMETER, 9/18).
