Scottish Premiership side Rangers is "set for a Friday night football clash with Hearts following the announcement of October's live TV fixtures." Rangers were due to face Hearts at Tynecastle on Oct. 22 "but the fixture has been brought forward" to Friday, Oct. 21, with a 7:45pm kickoff. The club's mid-October trip to Inverness "has also been moved to a Friday night" and will now be played on Oct. 14 at 7:45pm (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 8/30).
The All India Tennis Association "may have given the thumbs-up" to Delhi Lawn Tennis Association's proposal to host India's Davis Cup World Group play-off match against Spain under lights, "but the decision has not gone down too well with Mahesh Bhupathi." He said, "I don’t know the reason, actually. I would like to know the justification for why the matches are in the night. I have spoken to a couple of boys and they obviously prefer to play in the day because the heat will hopefully be of a little bit of a benefit to the team." The decision to host the matches -- to be played in New Delhi from Sept. 16-18 -- in the evening "is reportedly to bring in more spectators." But, considering the importance of the match, Bhupathi said that India "ought to have tried" to utilize the home advantage to the fullest (THE HINDU, 8/29).
Korea's national archery governing body said on Tuesday it will "hold a new competition pitting the top homegrown archers against each other this fall." The Korea Archery Association said that the event, tentatively titled "Korea Archery Competition 2016," will be held from Oct. 20-22. The competition will take place about two months after the country's "historic sweep" of four archery Gold Medals at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. All six Rio contestants -- Chang Hye-jin, Ki Bo-bae and Choi Mi-sun for women, and Ku Bon-chan, Kim Woo-jin and Lee Seung-yun for men -- will be in action (KOREA HERALD, 8/30).
