High Performance Training Center To Be Installed At Stadium Southland

Southland, New Zealand, sporting leaders have "ramped up their quest for more success" with a new high performance training center to be set up at Stadium Southland, according to Logan Savory of STUFF. The center is "viewed as a way to get various sporting codes" and high performance athletes working closer together. It will be named the Mike Piper Training Centre which honors the late sporting administrator "who was passionate about fostering sport in the province." A court inside the velodrome "will be turned into a performance training gym, while the corporate lounges at the top of the velodrome will become team spaces," consult rooms and shared office space for high performance sport.The center "will be an extension of the already successful Academy Southland programme" (STUFF, 8/17).
