Everton Would Have To Pay Around $26M To Acquire Land In Liverpool's North Docks Area

Everton would have to pay around £20M ($26M) to "buy the land for a potential new stadium in Liverpool's North Docks area," according to Greg O'Keeffe of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. The Peel Group, which owns the 15-hectare water-front site, is "yet to publicly confirm" whether it is willing to sell it "although the land is said to command an asking price in that region." Peel said that its £5.5B ($7.2B) Liverpool Waters scheme, to regenerate a larger 60-hectare area incorporating the site identified for a possible Everton stadium, "remains on track." Everton is "also considering a potential site in Croxteth's Stonebridge Cross area." Club Dir Sasha Ryazantsev, who was appointed to the board in March by majority investor Farhad Moshiri, "reiterated the club's commitment to building a new ground." Ryazantsev said, "I don't know if project is the right word to use here, it is probably more than that" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 8/17).
