German F1 Grand Prix Draws Close To 5 Million Viewers On Germany's RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded close to 5 million viewers for its broadcast of the German F1 Grand Prix," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The race, which was won by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, drew 4.94 million viewers starting at 2pm on Sunday. The number translated into a market share of 31%. RTL's pre and post-race coverage obtained a market share of more than 14% in the target demographic 14-49. German pay-TV network Sky Deutschland, which also showed the race, attracted 330,000 viewers to its coverage and had a 2.1% share. In the target demo, Sky drew a 1.5% market share.

ICC COVERAGE: German free-to-air TV sports network Sport1 attracted 370,000 for its broadcast of the Int'l Champions Cup match between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan on Saturday. The game, which kicked off shortly after 11pm, obtained a 2.6% market, along with 2.6% in the target demographic (DWDL, 8/1).

IN FRANCE: After recording its largest audience market share in June, L’Équipe 21 equaled its 1.1% market share in July. The U19 European Championships aided the channel’s success with over 1 million viewers watching the men’s and 954,000 viewers watching the women’s, both won by France (L’Équipe).
