Vodafone Portugal Signs Agreement To Become Sport TV Shareholder

Vodafone Portugal "has signed an agreement with operator Nos and sports-rights owner Olivedesportos to become a shareholder in premier sports channel Sport TV Portugal," according to TELECOM PAPER. As a result of the agreement, Sport TV "will get a new shareholding structure, in which Vodafone, Nos and Olivedesportos will each have an equal share." No financial details of the agreement "were disclosed." Vodafone in May signed an agreement with Nos "to share national and international sport content rights, giving it notably access to the Benfica matches controlled by Nos." Sport TV "offers several premium channels in Portugal and Africa and is also planning to launch a free-to-air channel" (TELECOM PAPER, 8/1).
