Event Notes: Costa Rica Will Host Its Second World Surfing Games In August

Costa Rica will host the Int'l Surfing Association World Surfing Games "from Aug. 6 to Aug. 14 in Jacó." ISA President Fernando Aguerre announced the decision saying that the "combination of some of the globe's top surfers and its top waves made Costa Rica a perfect choice" to host the '16 games. This is "Costa Rica's second time hosting a World Surfing Games" after it hosted the '09 games in Playa Hermosa. The Costa Rican Surf Federation is "working alongside event producer RPM TV to see that the upcoming games have the necessary infrastructure and organization" (TICO TIMES, 4/5). 

An Ironman triathlon is "coming to the southern port city" of Busan, South Korea this summer. The 2016 Ironman 70.3 Busan, a World Triathlon Corp.-approved course, will take place at 6am on June 19. It is the "first edition to take place in Busan." The swim will take place at Busan's Haeundae Beach. Participants will "cycle along the scenic Dalamaji-gil Road to the World Cup Village in Gijang-gun." The first place winners for the men's and women's elite categories, which consists of professional athletes, will be awarded $3,000 each (KOREA HERALD, 4/6).
