Executive Transactions

Togo appointed CLAUDE LEROY as its new national football team coach to replace TOM SAINTFIET. Frenchman LeRoy, 68, "has worked on the continent for almost 30 years and has coached at a record eight Africa Cup of Nations tournaments." He signed a three-year contract and "is tasked with trying to qualify Togo for the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon" (BBC, 4/6). ... Ascot racecourse appointed JONATHAN PARKER as its new director of food and beverage and GUY CHADWELL as the new head of betting. Parker is currently the catering operations director for FMC, which is part of the Compass group and the official caterer to the Wimbledon tennis championships. He will join Ascot after Royal Ascot. Chadwell is a management consultant and worked at bookmaker Betfred beforehand, where he was responsible for all Totepool betting in southern England (Ascot). ... Ex-Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable ANDY WARD has been appointed by the UK Anti-Doping Agency board to lead an "independent review into its handling of intelligence." The review comes after the Sunday Times claimed London-based doctor MARK BONAR "prescribed performance-enhancing drugs to more than 150 British athletes, including Premier League footballers." Ward retired from police service in January "and has experience of serious organised crime, counter-terrorism and the use of intelligence" (BBC, 4/5).
