Marketplace Roundup: JMI Developing Commercial Opportunities In MotoGP

JMI, part of CSM Sport & Entertainment, announced an enhanced commitment to developing commercial opportunities in MotoGP, led by motorsport and PR specialist Pablo de Villota. Based in CSM's Madrid office, Di Villota will focus on increasing JMI's interests in the motorcycle racing series. JMI's focus will be on securing partners for both Dorna Sports, the MotoGP series rights holder, and the various teams that participate in the series. For the last seven years, Di Villota has been overseeing Santander's Formula 1 partnerships with Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren and its three Grands Prix title partnerships (JMI). 

TOKYO PARTNERS: The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee announced KNT-CT, JTB Corp. and Tobu Top Tours as Tokyo 2020 official partners, the second domestic tier of the Tokyo 2020 sponsorship program. KNT-CT, JTB Corp. and Tobu Top Tours have been jointly attributed the category of "travel agency services and national trip hospitality services." Their addition brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 domestic partners to 32, including 17 official partners (Tokyo 2020).

Dorna World SuperBike Organization
announced Honda motorcycles as the supplier of the paddock scooters used by Dorna at each round of the Motul FIM SuperBike World Championship (WSBK). 


Bundesliga club Schalke 04 partnered with the Hohe Tauern National Park "in a three-year deal." The Bundesliga side will display promotional material for the tourist region on LED displays around its Gelsenkirchen-based Veltins Arena, and will "push marketing content" on its social media platforms. The package also includes a Schalke 04 "first-team summer training camp in the region" (SOCCEREX, 3/31).

Intertain Group Spanish-language subsidiary Botemania has been "unveiled as new games sponsor" of La Liga side RCD Espanyol. The sponsorship deal will see Botemania become an official Espanyol partner until the end of the current La Liga season (SBC NEWS, 3/30).

French Top 14 rugby side Toulon (RCT) announced a two-year kit sponsorship deal with Hungaria that will begin at the start of the ’16-17 season. No financial details have been released (RCT).
