Carat Adspend Report Predicts U.K. Advertising Market Will Grow 6% This Year

In its latest adspend report, Carat predicted the U.K. advertising market will grow by 6.2% this year, "up from a previous forecast" of 5.5% for '16, according to Omar Oakes of CAMPAIGN LIVE. The Carat Ad Spend Report by the Dentsu Aegis Network media agency predicts the U.K. "will outperform the rest of the Western Europe market, with the exception of Ireland" which is set to grow by 7.3% this year. The advertising market in Europe "is predicted by Carat to grow" by 3.1 percent in '16, up from 2.8 percent in '15. The U.K. grew by 6% last year, according to Carat, and growth "is expected to continue" in '17 at 5.7%. Carat warned that "its growth predictions are subject to change following the UK referendum in June on whether it should remain or leave the European Union." TV adspend in the U.K. is expected to grow by 5% in '16. The report said that digital advertising "will continue to grow at double-digit levels" with 12.8% growth in '16 and then 12.2% in '17 (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 3/31).
