Former Chelsea Physio Eva Carneiro Wants Public Apology From Jose Mourinho

Former Chelsea physio Eva Carneiro is demanding a "public apology" from Jose Mourinho as part of her "constructive dismissal and sex discrimination claim against Chelsea" and its sacked manager, according to Ben Rumsby of the London TELEGRAPH. Carneiro’s barrister also revealed the club and its former first-team doctor were "nowhere near agreeing compensation over her dramatic departure ahead of a hearing on Monday at an employment tribunal." Mary O’Rourke, representing Carneiro, said, “We’re not expecting a resolution today. The two sides are so far apart financially. And we want Mr. Mourinho to make a public apology.” Carneiro arrived at London South Employment Tribunal in Croydon on Monday morning "for her second appearance before an employment judge." Representatives of Chelsea were also "present at proceedings arranged to avoid a full public hearing in June." Carneiro also has a separate personal legal action against Mourinho, who was sacked in December, "for alleged victimisation and discrimination" (TELEGRAPH, 3/7). YAHOO SPORTS reported if Mourinho, Carneiro and Chelsea do not agree to a settlement at the two-day judicial mediation hearing "a full employment tribunal will be held in public, expected to be heard in June, but the parties can settle at any point prior to the court date." Mourinho, who was "cleared of using discriminatory words by the FA towards the 42-year-old," was not present at the hearing, but would likely be called as a witness should it go to a full hearing (YAHOO SPORTS, 3/7).
