Event Notes: Kenya To Host 2018 Africa Nations Championship

Kenya will host the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN). Confederation of African Football Second VP Almamy Kabele Camara said that "the east African country should start preparations to host the event." It "will be the third time the CHAN competition returns to the Council of East and Central African Associations region after Sudan also hosted in 2011" (XINHUA, 2/8). ... France is to compete with Austria for the right to host the 2023 Int'l Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine World Championships after the neighboring resorts of Méribel and Courchevel "were confirmed as co-bidders." Three resorts "had initially been in the frame to launch the French bid, with the two chosen over Val d’Isère." Courchevel "would be likely to host the men’s downhill and super-G speed events as well as the men's super combined and the giant slalom and slalom female technical events." The women's downhill, super-G and super-combined would take place at Méribel, 19km to the south-west, "along with the men's giant slalom and slalom" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 2/8).
