Finance Notes: EPL Set To Release A Chunk Of $11B TV Deal Money

The Premier League is "set to release a chunk" of the £8B ($11.3B) TV deal money a month early in July in a move "which is likely to prompt some significant early summer spending." Clubs "often leave it late to do the biggest business, either party convinced it will aid their negotiations and hoping to get the best value from the exchange." This summer, however, "clubs will be able to factor in an advance on the bumper TV deal" -- provided the plans are finalized -- to their transfer planning (London DAILY MAIL, 1/20). ... Motorsport.com announced the acquisition of U.K.-based e-commerce platform OnPole.com. As part of the acquisition, Motorsport.com will launch its new e-commerce digital platform, Motorstore.com. Full integration of Motorstore.com is expected to launch in '16. Motorstore.com will feature the largest selection of apparel and accessories across all major motorsports series, including Formula 1, featuring such iconic brands as Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull and others. The acquisition continues Motorsport.com's strategic business initiative of standardizing -- through acquisition and in-house development -- the industry's largest motorsports e-commerce platform and supports the company's growth into data, technology and e-commerce (Motorsport.com).
